Can You Say Pharmakeia?

A friend of mine introduced me to Liam Scheff's blogtalk radio show recently. He deals with a few topics on his show, but lately he has done primarily medical stuff. This is an area that interests me as I am in favor of natural approaches to health. I believe that going to the doctor should be the exception and not the rule in most cases.

In this episode, Liam reviews the claims of Dr. Sanjiv Chopra about vitamins especially in his new book Doctor Chopra Says-Medical Facts & Myths Everyone Should Know which he authored along with Dr. Alan Lotvin.

 From blogtalkradio.com:
Join Liam as he tells true stories from life as it’s lived. Liam recounts a chance meeting with a certain doctor Chupacabra, (or, perhaps “Chopra”), now on the road, selling his book and the FDA-approved Nazi medicine* that we’re all supposed to love and trust…

Dr. Chupacabra wants you to hate the vitamin industry, because, he feels that all vitamins are useless! Especially Vitamin C! But he wants you to take more Lipitor, get more vaccination, and never trust anything you read online – except him!

Liam uses some harsh phrases (Nazi medicine) and doesn't leave anyone wondering how he feels about conventional health care. He is very funny and this is a thought-provoking study. (At least listen to the intro music for a brief journey back into the 80's.) He focuses on the denial of Dr. Chopra as to the effectiveness of vitamin C for the prevention or cure of disease. Liam reads medical studies in which high doses of IV ascorbic acid or vitamin C have been used to treat and cure the "incurable".

I will just add my personal experience here. We have used vitamin C here for years to treat colds and flu with excellent results. I highly recommend this website: DoctorYourself.com. The vitamin C dosage table , based on the studies of Dr. Fredrick Klenner, has been of great benefit to us.

On another note, please pray for Liam Scheff. He does acknowledge God on his shows, but seems to be antagonistic about black and white Biblical truth. I think he is certainly on a journey.

  1. Thanks for this resource...I will look it up...we use almost total alternatives because we don't have health insurance...and I feel it is better for us. My husband is now dealing with some health issues and the medical way is really harsh and we are trying the more natural means to come at the problem...I think I will up his C intake also.
    Thanks again.

Yes I did:) Liam calls him Dr. Chupacabra almost the entire show, it is pretty funny.

I like Liam Scheff's shows although, like I said he is not a "believer" in the truest sense, but I have hope:)

My DD says that our neighbor kid is always talking about chupacabra, too :P

  4. I've been hearing the rumblings about wanting to regulate the vitamin industry for years (since I worked in a healthfood store back in the 70's) and it's something I hope they don't do...sigh..."Dr. Chupacabra" says only vitamin D is of any benefit, and I've heard that many dr's are really pushing vitamin D these days so I wonder what is up with that?

I was talking with a patient yesterday. She was very anxious and said everyone she talked with yesterday sounded anxious and upset (prior to her fall accident, she was in alot of pain and had a neck collar on). I said to her that I don't believe we have ever seen the level of craziness that we see today of children shooting and doing the kinds of things they do for no reason, and etc, that the kinds of violence were in the past always for honorable reasons or during wars etc, but these days it is craziness out of control. I said to her that it has been foretold in the Bible, and she agreed. It seemed to calm her down a little bit.

  5. Hi Janette,
I hope that you will read the Vitamin C information, we have seen it work.

  6. I like vitamin D, it seems to help my "winter blues" quite a bit, but I can't afford to take it all the time.

My hubby's grandma was just saying yesterday how everything seems to be so scary anymore.

On a somewhat related note, you mentioned Daniel's time-line in the past (the Dewey Bruton thing I think). Didn't he put the second coming at about 2017 and the tribulation starting about 2010? Do you think it is even possible that we are "in" the seventieth week now?

  7. It might be...or perhaps that is when "The Tribulation" actually begins...maybe? I do agree that we are in the final days however it calculates out to actually be I'm not sure...time will tell, all things will be revealed, eh?

  8. I am convinced that adding supplements to my diet has been very beneficial. I take evening primrose oil, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, fish oil, cod liver oil, green tea extract, and a multi-vitamin every day. I started this because of inflammatory conditions in my joints. My Orthopedic surgeon said there is little research to support it; but, if it helps-- go for it.

  9. Love your info posts! I'm a believer in vitamins and natural supplements. I suffer from hormonal migraines and find that magnesium and Black Cohosh work better than anything else I've tried by cutting down the severity and duration. I also use mega amounts of vitamin C, honey and Echinacea for colds, flues, and such. It works! Blessings!

  10. Hi Cathy,

I think that is great. I became disenchanted with doctors years ago during the onset of my "fibromyalgia"- not disparaging that term, I know that some people really suffer from this, but I just couldn't get any doctors to take me seriously. The specialist I was sent to was very condescending and after reading the side effects and contraindications on the meds he prescribed, I said no thanks, and never went back.
I started doing my own research, trial and error and have treated myself more or less for the last several years with herbs and supplements, also realizing that my body after six kids just isn't going to be like it was before:P

I've heard green tea extract is good. I love green tea, so I just drink 3 or so cups a day. I took evening primrose oil during my last pregnancy to get ready for labor, too.

  11. Petra,

I have the migraines, too and have also found magnesium to be a HUGE help. I didn't know black cohosh was good for them, I just bought some hmmmm.

True of course. I just have seen some speculation that we may actually be "in" the tribulation now. I dismissed that idea before, but the way things are going....

  13. I suppose that might be the case... we'll find out when they enact the MOB which is supposed to be halfway into the 7 year period (I think?)

They mixed the H1N1 stuff (they must have had a bunch of it left over from people refusing it last year but they were saying how little there was and "hurry and get it before it runs out" BS) into the regular flu shot this year and everyone that I know that got the inoculation has gotten very sick. Some hospitals are firing people who refuse to take it. At our hospital they make us wear a mask when we are with a patient, and they are threatening to fire those who refuse it in the future.

I've heard some say that the flu shot is the MOB...I'm not sure about that, but it probably is at least a precursor to that kind of enforced "branding".

Last night many of us were again made aware of how high tensions are all around us, people snapping to each other for very odd and inappropriate reasons.

    Weird times indeed.

  14. They are really pushing the flu shot, huh? A couple of my relatives work in hospitals and I guess the shot was mandatory for both of them this time, ugh.

It will be interesting to see what the MOB turns out to be.

  15. I've been debating within myself of what I must do when the FS becomes mandatory, whether I need to quit, or just take it because in the Bible we are told we can take up serpents, etc, and that example of Paul being bitten by a poisonous asp and it not effecting him at all makes me think that even though it isn't wise to do, that there is protection provided... but when the MOB hits the scene I think we all will know it and that we are not to take it no matter what the threats against us will be.

  16. Here is a link that minimizes the severity of the reality, yet admits there is a correlation between the FS and infant febrile seizures:

    http://www.smartbrief.com/news/aap/storyDetails.jsp?issueid=1A0B36FD-046C-480F-80C4-048867C6D1B6&copyid=3BFF4B7A-7411-41F2-95AB-3FED462AD481&brief=aap&sb_code=rss&&campaign=rss

On our local radio station they said outright there are "no longterm ill effects" from this (how do they know this?) and that the "FS is still safe so continue to get it for your children"...

Also, the number of cases are the "reported cases"...so we don't know how many went unreported, or just simply weren't linked to the vaccination for various reasons.

  17. I think He'll provide a way out (of the FS) or out of the effects by His Grace:)

I agree that the mark will be unmistakeably taken and not snuck in on anyone.

  18. I totally agree that Vitamin C is a common supplement that helps us avoid illnesses and in fact taking vitamin c always can boost our immune system. Be sure not to overdose in taking vitamin C, I had read some articles that explains what happen if you get overdoes. Anyway, I really appreciate this type of topic and would bookmark this site for future references. Thanks...
