I walk out of the kitchen last evening quite perturbed, persnickety, and grumpy after cooking supper and cleaning up. It was pretty hot out yesterday and our air conditioning is currently being impudent. (Confidentially, I'm an early bird and my mood starts going south after about 6 pm anyway...ask the Mr.)
So...I walked outside to take out the compost-ables and saw this:
 |
| He had already dug a smaller patch up...about the third of this size. |
 |
| When I told him the things I wanted, he mentioned that there was not enough space in the patch. I thought that meant too bad for me...but apparently not! |
This is going to be my tea garden!
We have catnip and chamomile and plan on putting peppermint in here too.
The Mr. doesn't drink my crazy teas, but he's dug up a big chunk of the side yard just for me.
On the way back to the house, my heart full of humility due to my aforementioned rotten attitude and gratefulness toward my hubby, I got a couple of shots of my son's new drum set that he built.
 |
| One can make out parts of an ACTUAL drum set that was bought for him a few years back. THIS is why we can't have nice things. |
 |
| He likes this one so much better. You can see my gourmet coffee cans are being put to good use. |
Now that is the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteVery cool drum set!
ReplyDeleteHave fun planting. I've been avoiding cleaning out a flower bed because of the hot weather. If I keep on waiting, I'll be planting pansies not summer annuals.
Do you get cats in your catnip? I was debating about planting catmint for the flowers, but I didn't want to encourage the neighborhood cats to get intoxicated. :)
Hi Ma,
ReplyDeleteOh boy that is a humbling experience. I too am a morning person and can be a bit grumpy in the evening time. :s What a very sweet hubby you have! Praise God for loving husbands who honour God and their wives!
I love this drum set!! I could see my son building something like this. We have been talking about getting drums but the interest is not quite at the point where he is bugging me yet. We have a piano, key board, guitar and flute and the kids want me to play the drums!! Me?? Really, I am so musically not inclined but it would be fun!
Give your son a high five from me and a 'great job' for the awesome drum set.
Blessings,
<><
Oh how dug up dirt is SUCH an aphrodisiac around here, too! Want me to know you love me? Dig! So sweet! I got my own herb bed too, this year *fluttering eyelashes*!
ReplyDeleteThe drum set is fab!! The best! Love boys with ingenuity!
More than the drum set, I love the PICTURES of the drum set :)
ReplyDelete...and that is wonderful that your husband is so thoughtful. I wish I had a green thumb...also I am so not musically inclined...I love to hear good music, but my voice! I have embarrassed myself at karaoke! But I had fun trying :D
I drink the very same coffee - have been for years. Kroger coffee is consistently the best value for my money; good for you. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the drum kit. What's the deal with the tambourine? It looks melted, as if boosted from a Dhali painting. Too cool.
Hey aztexan,
ReplyDeleteThat's me..the cheapest coffee I can find, besides I do doctor it up so much that it wouldn't really matter if it were coffee or floor sweepins.
What's the deal with the tambourine?
It's hard telling...four boys =everything gets destroyed at all times. :P
My Dad's a big Dhali fan.
Susan,
ReplyDeleteI'm not musically inclined either, the Mr. plays guitar (quite well if I may brag). Fortunately, I barely remember my attempts at karaoke...:x I am hoping for the best with the gardens. We have spouts in our food garden!
Mrs. Jennifer,
What are you planting in your herb garden? Honestly I have so many things I'd like to have that my vision is an entirely edible and drinkable yard...okay we'll save a patch for the kids to play in too.
Hi Child of God,
This particular son wants to play guitar, too. Hubby's been teaching him a bit, but he's still a bit too small (physically) for the guitar. Music can be fun...but loud.
Hello Persis,
I'm not sure if the nip will attract cats...they say so, but we don't have any of our own, so I'll have to be on the lookout. It really does make a very tasty tea...doesn't affect humans the same though:) I hope you can get a break in the weather to plant your flowers.
Hi Mama Hen,
INDEED:)
Love it!
ReplyDeleteHooray for your Hubby!!!! What a sweet and thoughtful thing to have done for you! Blessings, Joanne
ReplyDeleteGrace, it melts the heart of attitude into gratitude faster than any scolding ever will. Glad your husband knows grace. How can we not love God, right?
ReplyDeleteThat drum set is awesome! My younger brother and our youngest son were also blessed with this insatiable desire to modify things. Too cool!
May I ask how you doctor your gourmet coffee? With the food prices these days, I'm tempted to use floor sweepings! Having a totally edible, drinkable yard sound very appealing. I need a green thumb.
Blessings!
Hi Petra, our thumbs aren't terribly green, but we're learning:)
ReplyDeleteI use black strap molasses, half and half, and stevia in my morning cup.
Lately, though, I haven't been springing for the half and half. Milk is acceptable (but half and half is MUCH better).
A tea garden ... how sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the garden. I do so miss tilling a piece of land and things grow. Here it is not so.
ReplyDeleteFor the record your son is a class A genius in my book...his innovations will take him far in life.
Jennifer
I hope so Jennifer..he is such a sweetie..can you tell I'm his mom?:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your son's creativity! Wow..fresh herbs for tea. How wonderful, Ma!
