Format Means Erase?

Then why doesn't it say erase? I was tinkerin' with my camera the other day and decided it would be a good time to "format" the sd card- thinking this would show me how much space I had left or something. Anyway, you know the rest.

I lost some stuff, but such is life.

Here are some pictures I've taken recently that did make it to the computer before I starting pushing buttons having no idea what I was doing formatted the card.

The bread peel the Mr. made me after mine broke some time ago...been wanting to show it off;)

    1. I felt really stupid. When I realized what happened I asked my 11 year old son what formatting the card means....he knew.

  2. I've wiped out my card by accidentally unplugging the camera from the USB port before unmounting the camera. The card can't be used again until its reformatted. You'd think I'd learn after the first time but I've done it at least twice. :(

  3. Ah, a different vocabulary for everything. It can be so frustrating. Love the photo of the geraniums in the window with the lawn chairs showing through the glass.

    1. Geraniums! Now I know, I wasn't sure what they were. Two of my boys brought them to me from their Sunday school class.

  4. Hi Ma,

I love the geraniums on the window sill. I was just looking through a Good Housekeeping magazine last night. It had a section on geraniums...they were so lovely! I was thinking that I would love to have a garden with some varieties of geraniums growing in flower pots...and the "Spring Morning" shot is beautiful! Glad you didn't lose that one. :)

    1. I hope they live until I decide to do something else with them. I'm sure you could put some pots around your place and it would be lovely. I have some chamomile blooming, I'll get that up too...exciting:)

  6. Hi Ma, Love the Mother's Day flowers, the kids always love giving their Sunday School projects and seeing your reactions. :) Your bread board is grand too!

To me the word "format" means the frame or edges of a picture or piece of drawing paper definitely not "erase"! I'll have to look it up too, but I still don't quite know why I need to "format" my card??? Oh well, I try too......:)

    1. I love my bread board, too. My store bought one broke and I asked my husband if he could try to make one with some wood we already had here. It didn't take long to make and cost $0.:)

Ok... now after viewing your photos, I'm wanting to come over, sit in the cool clover and drink some sun-tea with you.

You deserve a break after all that moving:)

  9. Hey- there is a way to get your pictures back. You should ask Heidi. My card got erased when I took it to CVS to develop the BIRTH PICTURES of Jeremiah! I don't even know how it happened. Anyway, Heidi told me about a website. I followed the instructions (which were quite simple) and restored most of my pictures. Sorry, I don't remember the name- but since she deals in pictures and all, she probably remembers :)

    1. Yippee!

      I did it:D

I only lost a couple of things that I know of, but they say that happens when you take pictures after the formatting. I never would have thought this was possible, thank you so much!

BTW, I used Recuva...the free version if anyone else is interested.

  10. My, I have learned a ton here tonight. Thank you, everyone! And, Ma, your photos are lovely. My husband made me a bread board once. It worked great as a paddle too, haha! I love the clothesline Photo and the Mother's Day flowers in the window, which reveals the perfect spot to sit and sip sun tea. And what a sky to wake up to. Awesome! :-)

  11. So do you BAKE the bread on that or cool & cut it (or all three)?

  12. Hi Rebecca,

The board is used to get the loaves into the oven. I sprinkle cornmeal on it so the bread doesn't (hopefully) stick and let it do it's final rise there, then slide it into the oven. I have one rack lined with baking stones, which are just unglazed quarry tile.:)
