Thankful

I know, I know, we're all doing the thankful thing.

But I am, really. This year has been a doozy and it occurs to me that things are never going to be "perfect" in anyone's lives and stay that way very long.

We did Thanksgiving differently due to a series of events that no one saw coming when this year started.  It's a gift, I suppose, to not know what's coming down the road whether good or bad.  It's the same with the past. Lessons learned make us wiser (hopefully) although they can be very awful. But God has us where He wants us when He wants us.

Thankful. I am for this season, this time, this bitterness of soul and this joy of spirit. They are all there in this present. I hope to use them well.

  1. You know, I have never really thought about it that way-it is a gift to not know-good or bad. And for me-one who wants to control myself, my circumstances, and everything around me, that is a hard one to surrender.

    1. I understand that need to control everything. Trying to see what is coming up and also looking behind keep me from truly living at times....and that really stinks.

  2. I like how you open your heart in bits and pieces, point to Him, and speak poetry - truthful poetry - the kind that touches another's heart!

"Thankful. I am for this season, this time, this bitterness of soul and this joy of spirit..."

Joy of spirit midst bitterness. What a gift!

    Sending you a cyber hug!

  3. Oh my goodness, I do not know what you are going through, but I am so sorry! I hope you were able to have some good times on Thanksgiving. I, too, have been in the fight of my life. E-mail me any time you would like to chat, I missed everyone.

  4. God bless you and your family Ma. There is a country song titled "Sounds like life to me", and it's realistic to know that God allows good and bad (at least in our eyes). I agree with you that I hope that we learn from the harder ones and grow in wisdom and knowledge. there is another country song titled titled "You're gonna miss this", talking about not missing the great moment s in life as they unfold and the time that we are in now, because they go by far too fast and then all we have is the memories, so cherish the time, love those loved ones, make every moment count. I love that your posts speak directly to this fact. We only have this one shot, so love it and make it a good one. In the words of that great Philosopher Kung Fu Panda: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.
