God and Sinners Reconciled

It's been a busy couple of weeks. We decided this year to really try to relax and enjoy the holiday time. Family has been so important to us this year, they always should be, but we never know what we've got until the hard stuff comes....

I was unhappy about my behavior one day recently. I felt very convicted and guilty and then I spotted this on the floor of our van. It was looking right up at me as I got into the driver's seat.

a craft from Sunday school, I assume

The kids had cleaned out the van the day before, but for some reason left this behind.

Suddenly, a wash of His love came over me. I didn't feel guilty anymore. I don't know how to explain it, but if one looks at it simply....God forgives me, you, everyone.

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (from 2 Corinthians 5)

That is why we celebrate the Joy of Christmas. God has made a way for us to come back, and He's not keeping score of every little sin. It's finished. The hard part is getting our minds around that.

We should be overflowing in gratefulness every second, especially when we feel condemned by our own faults because we know He loves us! We don't keep sinning, we get up and try again because we are accepted in Him and that creates true love for Him in us.

Merry Christmas!

    1. It is easy to take it for granted and not be thankful. We are blessed!

  4. So true, Ma. It's good to know that the One who can remember EVERYTHING, every jot and every tittle, washes us clean and remembers our sins no more. :) I seem to want to hang on to the worst, and go over and over it, like a weird fetish. Thankfully, God is not like that! He is gracious, and merciful and kind. And His love has no boundaries! It is perfect! You are so right that it is hard to wrap our minds around that simple concept because this world is so full of wickedness. How can God simply wipe it away? The devil wants to keep taunting us for every little thing, but God in His mercy washes us with His own blood! How great a salvation!

I know exactly what you mean, Susan. If HE remembers it no more, for His sake, then what right do we have to keep remembering? I have let go of my old sins, too, just recently. There is no point in reliving them over and over. It just keeps us from the fruit of the Spirit

Seek FIRST the Kingdom (and for me that meant stop reminding God and myself about my wickedness) and everything else will take care of itself.

      We are loved.

  5. Thank you so much for this post Ma. God has been doing a wonderful work in me most recently. My Christmas was a time of reconciliation that could have only happened with God's hand. Like Susan indicated in her comment, I have also held onto things that I probably should have let go of a long time ago. I guess I just wasn't ready as the pain was too great. But, God kept working on me and made sure that others didn't give up on me either. Now, I can move forward with baby steps for 2013. Like Persis said...Praise God for the forgiveness we have in Christ.

    1. That's wonderful Mrs. White. I saw the pictures on your recent post, what a beautiful family!

Forgiveness has taken on a whole new meaning to me lately, too, especially forgiving myself.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Such a good message to remember, though it's not always easy, since we as humans tend to be on the "stubborn side."

    1. When I think of how patient He's been with me, I often wonder how I can be so impatient.

But He's patient with that too!:)

I agree completely. The devil is the accuser, so I'm done helping him do his work!

      Thanks for stopping by Patsy.

  14. I am so happy with the fact that you acknowledge (and repent!) of your sinfulness. It's refreshing... We are all wrought with sin, we don't even know it.

  15. What a liberating truth for the Believer and what a monumental mistake for those who reject it. God loves us; not because we are good, but because God is love and chooses to love us despite ourselves (warts and all). What a blessing to grasp and hold onto it MA. Thank you.

    1. Here's to hoping more would embrace it. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, but God comes to restore. May we surrender to His mercy!
